Hey guys.  Sorry for the delay last week.  I fear another one coming up since I’ll be visiting relatives and the only internet available is dial up- not too great for posting pictures online.

So I decided to try to get back in the groove with a little sketching.  Still debating to the Taxxon look.  I kind of want to go by the book, though a part of me wants to try my own spin on it.  For some reason, it makes more sense for Taxxons to have hinged jaws.  Maybe I’ll do some studies of insects and get some cues from nature.

Creepy crawly Taxxons!  They eat anything.  And I do mean anything…

Hork Bajir.  Walking salad shooter from Hell… Whatever Marco wants to call them, they are creatures you probably don’t want to mess with.  Seasoned Anumorph fans will know if this specimen is a male or a female.  I’ll leave some elements of the comic a mystery if you don’t know

Fleshing out some character and alien designs.  Still some kinks to work out with the Andalites, but I’m pretty happy how this Hork Bajir turned out!  What do you think?

This time I did a study of a female Andalite.  I tried to address some of the issues mentioned in the male.  I added some muscle and thickness to the stalk eyes.  I made the tail blade more “attached” looking.  I tried to splay the hooves more than a normal cloven hoof to distinguish more of an idea as to how the Andalites eat (through mouths on the bottom of their feet).  Some may wonder why I added breasts to the female- simple! As I see it, Andalites used to have mouths on their face and the breasts remain vestigial from that time.  Same reason why manatees still have toenails.  Trust me, I did try to put some thought into the redesign!

I took some advice and decided to do a study on deer anatomy to help establish a more realistic Andalite.  Originally, I based the Andalite anatomy on horses, but this one looks a lot more delicate.  What do you think?

The next scene should be interesting….

Missed a couple of days… NOOOOOOOOO! We’ll see if I can make it up or maybe I’m slowly realising a “regular update schedule”.

It was interesting to figure out how to differentiate a thought speech bubble from a regular speech bubble and a narrative bubble. My solution? A rounded cornered rectangle! I like the solution for now
